Dazu braucht es eine Crew die miteinander an einer Zielerreichung arbeiten kann.
Beim sogenannten „Champaign sailing“, also wenn die Bedingungen während der Fahrt es zulassen hie und da in gepflegter Atmosphäre mit einem geeigneten Gläschen Schaumwein anzustoßen, ist das alles kein Problem. Doch bereits beim nächsten Anlegemanöver zeigt sich wie ein SKiPA seine Crew führen kann.
Bei „rough conditions“, wenn es also auch seglerisch zur Sache geht, kommen die Stärken und Schwächen in der Crewführung gnadenlos und offensichtlich zur Geltung.

Ich habe während eines Törns auf einem Dreimaster als Crewmitglied etwas ganz anderes erlebt. Der Capitän hat seinen, in einer Heirachie eingeordneten Crwemitgliedern, sehr viel Möglichkeiten gegeben Führungsqualitäten auszuprobieren – auf jeder Ebene der Hierarchie. So war es für einen Trainee möglich mal das Kommando über eine Wache zu übernehmen und eine Halse zu versuchen (was bei einem Dreimaster mit 80m Länge kein Kinderspiel ist). Dannach gab´s stärken orientiertes Feedback und rundum strahlende Gesichter.
Ein SKiPA wird die Gesamtverantwortung niemals abgeben, und gliechzeitig wird er so schnell wie möglich dafür sorgen, dass Verantwortungen der Crew mitübernommen werden – und das bereits bei der Sicherheitseinweisung.
Dazu braucht es eine spezifische Vorbildung des SKiPA´s und die passende innere Haltung. Mit der Bereitschaft zu lernen und durch Feedback zu lernen, kann eine moderne Crewführung ausgezeichnet gelingen.
